Everything Will Be Fine
One day Moses said to the Lord, ''You have been telling me, 'Take these people up to the Promised Land.' But you haven't told me whom you will send with me. You have told me, I know you by name, and I look favorably on you. If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor ... The Lord replied, "I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest---everything will be fine for you." (Next sentence Moses speaks) Then Moses said, ''If you don't personally go with us, don't make us leave this place. How will anyone know that you look favorably on me--on me and on your people--if you don't go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth." The Lord replied to Moses, "I will indeed do what you have asked, for I look favorably on you, and I know you by name."
I'm so glad God is patient with me (us). Hadn't He just assured and reassured Moses that He would go with him, that everything would be okay, and that He knew him by name? That He would take care of the details? This was all in a short paragraph. Not a novel. A few sentences. Moses and I have a listening and believing problem. God says something, I kind of, sort of, listen-ish to what He says, and then ask again. I hear what He says and then, in the very next sentence, I question His love and provision for me when He won't show me the details. There are many ways in which I am similar to Moses, but I do NOT want to miss that Promised Land and the rest that came with it, like he did. I want to trust in the Lord and wait on Him. Daily.
It's hard for me. But He knows me (us) by name. He promises to go with us. We simply have to follow.Which is not so simple for me sometimes.
Signed, Just a (Redeemed) Sojourner from Egypt
